Use this Family Day to plan for some Family Fun in Ottawa!
Did you know that Family Day was first observed in Alberta in 1990? It was a day chosen to reflect the values of family and home that were important to the pioneers who founded Alberta, and give workers the opportunity to spend more time with their families. Family Day was later introduced to Ontario in 2008.
Another reason for introducing Family Day across the country is due to the long stretch in the calendar with no other holidays between New Year’s Day until Good Friday. Winter is long and cold here in Canada. Family Day is a way to shake the winter blues and let families reconnect, stay active and make the most of the winter.
Family Day is observed here in Ontario on the third Monday in February. This Monday, February 20th what fun will you take in with your loved ones? Below are few ideas to help create family fun in Ottawa.

Ottawa 2017 is tasked with creating 12 full months of big, bold, immersive and moving experiences that will complement national celebrations and annual events and festivals. Signature Events will animate the entire city, while community celebrations will be held in Ottawa’s neighbourhoods. The end result: a special year of national pride for all–and significant positive impacts for Ottawa’s tourism sector and the city as a whole.
Winterlude turns 39 this year and runs from February 3-20. There’s fun for the entire family, and all sites are open on Family Day in Ottawa.
Lansdowne Park is a world-class attraction located along the canal in Ottawa’s Glebe neighbourhood. It blends shops, restaurants, courtyards, heritage buildings and green space. Healthy Family Habits
Family Day is a day to recognize the importance of families and family life for people and their communities. Having a special day to reconnect with loved ones is wonderful, but more important (and sometimes difficult) is staying connected and making family time and healthy habits that happen all year round.
Healthy habits start early in life and as adults and caregivers, we play an important role in guiding and coaching our children into establishing their lifelong habits. If these regular activities are established early as part of your family’s lifestyle they will just become the natural way you do things. Parents who make health a priority and are physically active are much more likely to encourage the same habits in their children. Keep in mind the power of modeling – your child learns mostly from what you do yourself, not from what you tell them to do.
Chiropractic care and massage therapy are an important part of healthy living. From newborn babies to older adults, all spines can benefit from regular chiropractic care. Making sure the spine and nervous system are working in harmony for good health is important at all stages of life.
Our chiropractors and massage therapists can help you and your body recover from injuries, achieve new goals, remain mobile and active and live a healthy lifestyle. We provide our patients of all ages with supportive recommendations and tools to get back on track and reach new limits.
Young or mature, athlete or weekend warrior, retired or student, chiropractic care can help! No matter your reason for visiting Byward Chiropractic Clinic + Massage Therapy Centre or Glebe Chiropractic Clinic + Massage Therapy Centre we are here for you and your family. Plan a healthy habit into your Family Day fun and make the time for chiropractic care for the whole family. We are open this coming Family Day, Monday, February 20th at both locations to serve you and your loved ones better. Massage appointments are also available at both locations with easy access to online booking.
Whatever this Family Day brings, take the time to play. Play-days brings joy and keeps us young. Get out, laugh out loud and have fun! Happy Family Day in Ottawa.
